A song for childhood summers at the lake
There is a lake in Michigan that holds a lot of summer memories with family and friends.
One of those dear friends, Kate, spent a week with me at the lake four different summers and also happens to play guitar, sing, and write her own songs. So on one of the last nights of our third lake trip we decided to write a song about all the memories we had made there over the years. We stayed up until three in the morning out on the pontoon, writing until we felt the dew settling on the vinyl seats. I had never written a song before, and haven’t since, and the experience is now added to all the memories made out on that lake. So here’s to many fireworks and sunsets and songs sung at Duck Lake.
